The Union Territory′s sex ratio needs to be improved, and the Jammu and Kashmir administration has asked chief medical officers (CMOs) to develop a microplan for doing so.

An official spokeswoman claimed that Secretary of Health and Medical Education Bhupinder Kumar issued the directives at a meeting to discuss the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (prohibition of sex selection) Act.

For the efficient execution of the PCPNDT Act, which can be regulated by addressing gender bias and sex determination, a thorough action plan needs to be developed and monitored, according to Kumar.

He urged Kashmir to assess each registered ultrasonography clinic′s compliance with the PCPNDT Act and to make sure that the Acts provisions are rigorously followed in letter and spirit.
